A let down....

After three great releases comes "Watcha Playin'". I found this album to be a disappointment. Very few horns, much more generic stuff. All tunes begin with a funky groove and then drone on without much interest. Although not a "bad" record, it lacks the jazzy, experimental feel of thier earlier releases. If you are a pop-lover, try this; if you are a jazz-lover, go for their earlier stuff, especially their first release.

Smoother and Easier

Though lacking in some of the charming quirkiness of their previous efforts, Watcha Playin certainly brings the funk. It would be nit picking to complain that it's often a little too smooth and easy, that the soul to funk ratio favors the former more than I would like. Great album and as unassailably groovy as anything they've done.

Simply wonderful. The best CD that they have created with difference. All the songs (escepcion of her(it) number 4) are incredibly good. I recommend to obtain the CD wherefrom it(he,she) is. It(he) is very good.
